There are many house window designs, and you must be really aware of the "soul" of your home to choose the right one.
Here comes an interesting list composed of descriptions of different styles. We invite you to review it and choose a suitable and modern home window design.
Modern examples of window design
Fixed windows are those that cannot slide, swing or tilt because they are completely fixed to a frame. Therefore, they are not the best option for a room where fresh air is needed.
Instead, they are usually flanked with double hung frames, placed under or on top of hoppers and awnings.
In case you need them, it is good to know that they come in all sizes and shapes (square, trapezoidal, round, semicircular, etc.). Its biggest advantage is an affordable price, full of reliable energy efficiency and a beautiful appearance.
Awning windows
The awning windows are built to allow water to slide away from the window opening (they articulate from the top and open from the bottom of the frame).
Its usual position is on fixed windows, and they are mainly applied in garages, cabins or any other place where ventilation and privacy are more important than aesthetics. Still, awning windows are very typical for southern design styles.
Casement windows
You will recognize a casement window by the fact that it is articulated at the sides and opens outwards, in the same way as a door does. It does not have a rail, which is exactly why it looks like an image widows.
It can be pushed or opened with a rigid crank, and it has the screens shown on the inside to protect it. That is why these windows are usually installed over sinks, appliances and countertops.
Double and single windows
A double window is the one that opens vertically, and has two fully operable panels (the lower one moves in parallel with the upper one, in the same way that the last one moves to rest on it).
Double leaf windows are a common option for greater ventilation, taking into account that you can allow air to enter both from below and from above. In addition, they look very homely and traditional.
We would not list them exactly among the most popular window styles, but they are certainly what a person would describe as unique.
There are no protrusions when you move them, which makes them good enough for spaces directly exposed to a terrace or patio. Small rooms can also benefit from this solution.
Single-window windows are a cheaper version of their double-door counterparts, and have an operable lower panel that moves in parallel with the upper one.
An interesting solution that you might consider is the washing of windows with double inclination, since they will never require you to go out and clean them. You could do it perfectly from the comfort of your interior.
Inclined wash windows are among the most space-efficient solutions, which makes them very popular in some regions of the world. Like double-leaf windows, they look better when faced with a terrace, patio or any similar space.
Bay and bow windows
Bow windows, on the other hand, consist of at least four panels of equal size, most often organized in gradual arc projections.
Both bay windows and bow windows are smart options for a good landscape or to be applied in rooms where there is a great need for natural light.
Garden windows
Garden windows are a type of interior extension, which means they look like glass boxes with internal shelves for plants and herbs.
Because of their size, they are supposed to be in different places than the patios, sidewalks or seats of your porch. A great professional in your case are multiple side vents.
Decorative windows
Most of the time, decorative windows are fixed, which means that ventilation is not among its qualities. As an advantage, we could mention the numerous forms they can have, especially the rare ones that are not available for other types of windows.
Stern windows
The term stern mirror window is used for combinations between few window styles, such as vent and fixed. They are usually placed above or below windows, larger doors, to ensure that there is more veterinarian and sunlight in a room.
Given that its purpose is to complement an already installed window, they are available in many forms: rectangular, square, rounded, elliptical, etc.
Shutter windows
Window blinds are constructed from multiple layers of glass, and are generally applied in reception spaces in front of sunny porches or beautiful gardens.
They are very practical and have an efficient closing mechanism that keeps the heat inside, but 'attracts' enough fresh air when necessary.
